FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is SEPTA? SEPTA stands for Special Education Parent-Teacher Association. SEPTA
operates similarly to a school's PTA but with special emphasis of bringing
together and helping children with special needs and their families. SEPTA
supports, strengthens and promotes the welfare and well-being of children with
special needs. SEPTA promotes an understanding of special education and strives
to enrich the lives of children with special needs.
Who are SEPTA Members? Anyone that has an interest in the welfare and/or well-being of children with
special needs. This includes parents, families, teachers, school administrators,
students and friends. Membership is open to all.
How can you support SEPTA? By becoming a member. Membership dues
are very reasonable and it is the
strength of our membership that will drive our success. Attend our meetings.
If
you are unsure if you want to become a member or our curious as to what SEPTA is
all about, come attend a meeting as a non-member to help you decide if full
membership is something you are interested in. Participate in our programs.
Programs are an essential part of what SEPTA does. Providing programs that are
beneficial to our membership and our children with special needs. Volunteer your
time and get involved. You will feel good about it and you will be helping an
organization devoted to helping those children with special needs.
What is Orange SEPTA? Orange SEPTA is the Town of Orange 's own chapter of SEPTA. Organized December
3, 2003 , we are still growing and have put together an impressive list
of speakers, events and programs. The regular meetings are held
monthly, usually on a Wednesday, and any exceptions will be broadly publicized.
Orange SEPTA invites you to attend our next meeting to see what we are all
about.
